"Knowledge workers are believed to produce more when empowered to make the most of their deepest skills; they can often work on many projects at the same time; they know how to allocate their time; and they can multiply the results of their efforts through soft factors such as emotional intelligence and trust.
Organizations designed around the knowledge worker are thought to integrate the best of hierarchy, self-organization and networking rather than the worst. Each dictates a different communications and rewards system, and requires activation of knowledge-sharing and action learning. A basic pattern rule of human systems is that when you mix them you will get the worst of each unless you contextually and carefully attend to connecting the best."

The Art of Virtual Leadership (3 Hour Half Day Workshop)
Leading remote workers and managing virtual teams in The Anywhere Office™
"You can have a highly productive and collaborative team
regardless of where everyone is located."
Remote management is not radically different from managing people on-site: it requires the performance of basic management skills such as goal setting, assessing progress, giving regular feedback, and maintaining frequent, ongoing communication. However, while telecommuting and mobile work provide tremendous benefits to any organization, leading remote employees and managing dispersed teams have some unique challenges.
The difference is a shift in management style and the use of appropriate technology. The whole organization benefits through adjustments like learning to manage by results rather than activity, and by focusing on improving communication and nurturing trust between managers and employees.
This workshop focuses on learning to rely less on "eyeball" management and mastering techniques for improving communication to keep on and off-site team members connected.
Managers will learn how to evaluate the best technology to help their team collaborate across time and distance, as well as strategies for both real-time and ‘off-line’ document and project collaboration. These tools, along with the proper management techniques we teach, will ensure that virtual teams keep on top of projects, improve communication, and stay motivated and on schedule.
The Art of Virtual Leadership is a concentrated workshop designed to provide the essential knowledge, skills and best practices needed by managers of virtual (geographically-distributed) teams and teleworkers.
It will help them and their teams overcome the obstacles of communicating, supervising, leading, team-building and trusting at a distance. Our meeting, management tips, and communication strategies help participants maximize time and results.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Managers, directors, project leaders of global virtual teams and remote teams, senior managers and regional team members.

These comprehensive, interactive virtual workshops are delivered as web conferences which include online slides, exercises, demos, polling, and audio via conference call. These half-day, “online” versions of our workshops are segmented into two, 90-minute sessions, typically with a week in between.
Participation is possible anywhere there is a telephone and a computer with Internet access. Audio is delivered over the telephone and the slide show and relevant documents can be viewed simultaneously via a web browser.
There are many advantages to conducting a virtual workshop over the Internet rather than having us come onsite. These include the following:

"Global business teams (GBTs), that is, cross-border teams of individuals of different nationalities, working in different cultures, possibly in different businesses and across different functions, who come together to coordinate some aspect of the multinational operations on a global basis, are emerging as the single most powerful and ubiquitous tool for integrating the global enterprise. These teams go by a variety of names: global management committees, world business boards, global product councils, global launch teams, global quality task forces, global supply chain teams, global purchasing forums, and global strategy teams, among others. However, despite their criticality, they also present major challenges. Systematic design and management of GBTs can go a long way towards increasing the odds of success."
