It is difficult to find recent and contemporary statistics and organizations related to virtual teams, telecommuting, distributed teams, globally distributed teams, telecommuters, teleworkers, virtual offices and mobile work all in one place at one time. While the idea of virtual work is constantly evolving it can be frustrating trying to find recent research as much of the information you find is dated.

TELEWORK ORGANIZATIONS
World at Work (worldatwork.org) is a Human Resources support organization that strongly supports telework; they have a telework advisory group that maintains a separate website http://www.workingfromanywhere.org that publishes studies and reports about telework.
The Telework Research Network is a consulting and research organization that specializes in making the business case for workplace flexibility. Their Telework Savings Calculator™ has been used by hundreds of company and community leaders in the US, Canada, and the UK to quantify the economic, environmental, and societal potential of telecommuting and other flexible work options.
Using the latest Census data, and assumptions from dozens of government and private sector sources, TRN has developed models to quantify the economic, environmental, and societal potential on telecommuting for every, city, county, and state in the U.S and for the UK and Canada.
The Telework Coalition (TelCoa) has a mission to bring together a diverse array of organizations, companies, and individuals with the common interest of promoting awareness and adoption of existing and emerging Telework and Telecommuting applications including telemedicine and distance learning.
Telework Exchange is a public-private partnership focused on demonstrating the tangible value of telework and serving the emerging educational and communication requirements of the Federal teleworker community. The organization facilitates communication among Federal teleworkers, telework managers, and IT professionals.
Telework.Gov is the official website of the United States' Federal Government's telework program. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the General Services Administration (GSA) have established this interagency website to provide easy access to information about telework in the Federal Government.
The Canadian Telework Association A non-profit association that promotes telework in Canada. Their website contains links to a wide range of articles on all things related to telework.
The Euro-Telework Project Euro-Telework has been supported by the European Commission, DG Employment and Social Affairs, under the European Social Fund.

RW3CultureWizard sent out 45,000 survey invitations to clients, colleagues, and others engaged in global business activity. They received 3,301 completed surveys, which represent an 8% response rate. That kind of response to a survey of this sort is outstanding and indicates the importance of its subject. This report is a summary and analysis of the survey findings. (MAR 2012)

EDUCATION
PhD.org's Online School Directory
The Education Index is the only college database of its kind on the web. Using consistent, updated data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), the index allows students to search for and rank college programs in the U.S. using special filters. There are over 1,650 schools around the US offering online programs. These schools are located in all 50 states, with California and Texas having the greatest concentration of accredited online schools. (FEB 2013)
